Our Story
The Story Behind Ontario College of Health Care & Professional Training
Where a question became a purpose — and a purpose became a community.
Where a Question Became a Purpose
What happens after graduation?
For many new healthcare graduates, the journey does not end when they receive their certificate. In many ways, it is only beginning.
We have witnessed the uncertainty that can accompany a graduate's first steps into the workplace — the gap between knowing what to do and feeling confident about how to do it. We have seen bright, caring graduates enter their first jobs carrying knowledge, but sometimes lacking the mentorship, guidance, confidence, and practical support needed to translate that knowledge into meaningful care.
That experience led us to ask: Could education do more than prepare someone to graduate? Could it prepare them to begin — and continue — their journey with confidence? That question became one of the driving forces behind the creation of OCHCPT.
More Than a Classroom
Education should not end at the classroom door.
At OCHCPT, students are not simply prepared to pass an examination. They are encouraged to develop the confidence, practical understanding, professional judgment, and human qualities needed to grow within a healthcare career.
"You are not alone. Let us help you take the next step."
Our relationship with students is intended to extend beyond graduation — building lifelong partnerships that support continued learning, professional growth, and contribution to the communities they serve.
We Rise by Raising Others
Healthcare is ultimately about people.
Behind every client is a person with a story, a family, a history, hopes, fears, vulnerabilities, and a need to be treated with dignity.
Education is therefore not only about developing technical competence. It is also about nurturing compassion, empathy, respect, dignity, responsibility, and service. We want our students to ask not only “What can I do?” but also “How can I make a difference?”
A graduate can touch a client’s life. A caring worker can strengthen a family. A compassionate professional can contribute to a healthier community. When institutions, partners, and graduates work together, that impact becomes even greater.
More Than a Classroom
Building more than a place to learn.
We are building a community where students are encouraged to learn with purpose, serve with compassion, and grow with confidence — leaving not only asking "What career can I build?" but "Whose life can I make better because I chose this profession?"
Learn with Purpose. Serve with Compassion. Grow with Confidence.
Together, we rise by raising others.
